The Faculty of Information Engineering was established in 1994 and is one of the six earliest faculties founded in the university. Initially named the "Department of Information Management" at its establishment, it was renamed the "Department of Information Engineering" in 2012 and further renamed the "Faculty of Information Engineering" in 2017.
Up to now, the Faculty offers 7 undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Internet of Things Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Intelligent Science and Technology, and Artificial Intelligence; 2 “specialized-to-bachelor” transition majors: Electronic Information Engineering (Specialized-to-Bachelor) and Software Engineering (Specialized-to-Bachelor); and 1 junior college major: Computer Application Technology.
The Faculty has 2 provincial-level key disciplines in Henan Province: Computer Application Technology and Software Engineering; 1 provincial brand major: Computer Science and Technology; 3 provincial funding-supported programs: Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering; 1 characteristic development program for private colleges under the Henan Provincial Department of Education: Electronic Information Engineering; 1 urgent and special needs major in Zhengzhou municipal colleges: Software Engineering; and 1 strategic emerging major in Zhengzhou municipal colleges: Artificial Intelligence. It also hosts 1 municipal Famous Teacher Studio in Zhengzhou: Intelligent Technology Famous Teacher Studio; and 1 university-level key discipline: Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems.
The Information Engineering Experimental Center serves as both a Henan Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and a construction site for the Zhengzhou Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. In addition, the Faculty has established 2 off-campus practice education bases for undergraduate students in Henan Province.

The Faculty of Information Engineering actively promotes university–enterprise cooperation and the integration of industry and education. Industry certification standards and technical specifications are incorporated into teaching. Innovation and entrepreneurship education is regarded as an important component of quality education and skills training, with a strong emphasis on engineering application ability. The Faculty is committed to cultivating high-quality, application-oriented professionals for the intelligent technology industry.
The Faculty has established more than 40 stable off-campus internship and training bases, including the Xingzheng Municipal Government Service and Big Data Administration Bureau, Zhengzhou Aiwen Computer Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Tianfang Hengrui Technology Co., Ltd., Nanjing Yunchuang Big Data Technology Co., Ltd., Henan Xincode Electronics Co., Ltd., and Henan 863 Software Incubator, providing students with extensive internship and practical training opportunities.
The Faculty attaches great importance to academic competitions. In daily teaching activities, it fully leverages the strengths of engineering disciplines and promotes “competition-driven practice and learning.” In recent years, students have achieved more than 400 awards at national and provincial levels in competitions such as the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, “Lanqiao Cup” National Software and Information Technology Competition, and Robotics Competitions.
Through participation in academic competitions, students are provided with opportunities to compete alongside peers from top universities nationwide, enhancing their engineering practice skills and cultivating innovation ability, practical competence, and teamwork spirit.
Educational Achievements
The postgraduate admission rate of graduates from the Faculty of Information Engineering has increased year by year. Many students have been admitted to renowned universities such as Beihang University, South China University of Technology, Wuhan University, Central China Normal University, and Communication University of China, while some students have pursued further studies abroad.
More than 300 students have passed intermediate and advanced professional certification examinations. Among them, 20 students have obtained advanced certifications such as the Information System Project Manager qualification.
High-Quality Employment
The employment rate and employment quality of all majors in the Faculty of Information Engineering consistently rank among the top of the university. According to third-party statistics, the employment rate has remained above 95% for consecutive years, with 30% of undergraduate graduates receiving starting salaries above 7,000 RMB.
Graduates are mainly employed in first-tier and second-tier cities, engaging in software system design and development, electronic product design, intelligent robotics, data analysis and processing, and big data operation and application.
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Information Engineering has always been guided by the demand for talents from regional economic development, industries, and society. It follows the fundamental laws of talent cultivation and modern social development, adapts to the new normal of economic development, and adheres to rigorous, pragmatic, and innovative standards in talent training.
The construction of practical teaching bases follows the principles of openness, co-construction, and efficiency. Faculty development emphasizes a rational structure and the “dual-qualified” (theory and practice) teacher model. The Faculty has now formed a strong discipline structure, a highly qualified teaching team, and advanced practical teaching facilities. It has become a solid base for implementing Henan’s top ten national strategies, promoting regional economic development, and cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents in intelligent information technology.
