1.Computer Science and Technology
(1) Basic Information
This major was established in 1999 and is one of the earliest engineering majors offered by the university. It currently has more than 1,200 full-time undergraduate students. The program adheres to the founding philosophy of “Ethics, Innovation, Quality, and Performance,” is based on the current development of the computer industry in China and Henan Province, and keeps pace with future trends in the field to cultivate computer professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
With the care of university and college leadership and the joint efforts of faculty and students, the program has achieved a series of accomplishments: in 2017, it was recognized as a “Brand Major of Private Higher Education Institutions in Henan Province”; in 2018, Computer Applications was approved as a “Key Discipline of the Ninth Batch in Henan Province”; in 2020, the program was approved as a “Discipline and Major Construction Project in Private Higher Education Institutions”; in October 2022, it was approved as a Provincial Off-campus Practice Education Base for University Students in Henan Province.
After more than 20 years of development, the program has become a high-quality major with a well-developed curriculum system, complete teaching facilities, and strong employment outcomes. It has so far trained more than 8,000 graduates for society.
(2) Educational Objectives
Rooted in Henan and oriented to the whole country, the program aligns with the development needs of the computer industry and regional economy. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor development. Students are expected to master fundamental theories and skills in computer science and technology, possess a strong sense of social responsibility, innovation awareness, and learning ability, and develop basic capabilities in technical R&D, communication, and project management. They should also have teamwork, organizational management, self-learning, and lifelong learning abilities.
Graduates will be capable of working in fields such as information systems, embedded systems, data analysis, system operation and maintenance, and other IT-related areas, engaging in system analysis, design, development, and application as high-quality applied professionals.
(3)Core Courses and Main Practical Training
Core Courses includes Circuit and Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Computer Organization, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Database Principles and Applications, Software Engineering.
Main practical training includes course design projects in Data Structures, Database Principles and Applications, Big Data Technology, and Object-Oriented Programming.
2.Software Engineering
(1) Basic Information
This major was established in 2009 and currently has more than 800 full-time undergraduate students. It adheres to the philosophy of “Ethics, Innovation, Quality, and Performance,” is based on the development of the software industry in China and Henan Province, and has trained thousands of software professionals.
In 2018, it was recognized as a “Key Discipline at the University Level”; in November 2021, it was approved as a “Funded Discipline and Major Project for Private Universities in Henan Province”; in October 2022, it was approved as a Provincial Off-campus Practice Education Base; and in July 2023, it was designated as a “New Round Key Discipline in Henan Province.”
After nearly 13 years of development, the program has become a high-quality major with a well-established curriculum system, complete teaching facilities, and strong employment prospects.
Features and Advantages:
The program is aligned with the integration of modern service industries and next-generation information technology. It builds a specialized cluster in intelligent mobile development, enhancing its core competitiveness. It innovates teaching models, emphasizes process-based training, and highlights talent characteristics such as strong ethics, solid professional ability, perseverance, and strong practical skills. Through industry–university cooperation, the program defines clear knowledge, ability, and competency standards for applied talent training in intelligent mobile development.
(2) Educational Objectives
This program is designed to meet the needs of the software industry. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor development. Students will master fundamental theories of software engineering and computer science, as well as knowledge in software project management and system design.
Graduates will have practical abilities in software requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing, and will be able to work in software development, operation, and maintenance in related fields.
(3) Core Courses and Main Practical Training
Core Courses includes Computer Organization, Data Structures, Database Principles and Applications, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Object-Oriented Programming, Software Engineering, Software Project Management.
Main practical training includes course design projects in Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, Database Systems, and comprehensive software project development practice.
3.Data Science and Big Data Technology
(1) Basic Information
This major was established in 2018 and currently has 446 full-time undergraduate students. It adheres to the philosophy of “Ethics, Innovation, Quality, and Performance,” is based on the development of the big data industry in China and Henan Province, and aims to cultivate applied technical professionals aligned with industry demand.
This program is a new engineering major approved by the Ministry of Education in response to the National Big Data Development Strategy. It focuses on data as its research object, aiming to extract knowledge and intelligence from data. Based on statistics, computer science, visualization, and domain knowledge, it integrates resources from information and computing disciplines. Oriented toward “local relevance, application-oriented training, informatization, and openness,” and guided by “solid theory, competency-based training, and market demand,” it aims to cultivate high-level applied professionals with strong capabilities in big data collection, cleaning, storage, processing, analysis, visualization, and application, as well as data mining and system integration.
The employment outcomes are strong: the postgraduate admission rate for the 2022 cohort reached 11%, with students admitted to universities such as Zhengzhou University, Henan University, and Hainan University. The pass rate for intermediate-level computer qualification exams exceeds 30%. Students have also achieved excellent results in competitions such as the National Mathematical Contest in Modeling, ACM programming contests, and provincial programming competitions.
(2) Educational Objectives
This program is oriented toward regional economic development in Central China. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor development. Students will master fundamental theories of data science and big data technologies and possess practical skills in data analysis, processing, mining, visualization, system development, and maintenance.
Graduates can work in research, education, R&D, administration, and other related fields, engaging in data analysis and application, big data management, system development, operation, and maintenance.

4.Internet of Things Engineering
(1) Basic Information
This major was introduced as one of the new undergraduate majors approved by the Ministry of Education in 2010. Our university began enrolling students in this program in 2013, making it one of the first higher education institutions in Henan Province to offer the major.
Over the years, students in this program have ranked among the top in postgraduate admission, professional certification examinations, and high-paying employment. They have also achieved outstanding results in prestigious competitions, including the National IoT Competition, the Lanqiao Cup, Cybersecurity Competitions, and ACM Programming Contests.
The program specializes in the design and development of wireless sensor networks. It emphasizes students' capabilities in designing and developing IoT systems, enabling them to select appropriate hardware modules, integrate software applications, and complete IoT projects for specific application scenarios.
(2) Educational Objectives
The program is designed to meet the needs of the IoT industry and related sectors. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates with moral integrity, intellectual competence, physical fitness, aesthetic appreciation, and practical skills. Students will master the fundamental theories of Computer Science and Technology and Electronic Science and Technology, as well as knowledge of IoT application development. Graduates will possess social responsibility, innovative thinking, and lifelong learning abilities, together with practical competencies in IoT solution design, hardware selection, software development, and system integration. They will be qualified to engage in the design, development, operation, and maintenance of IoT systems and related engineering applications.

5.Electronic Information Engineering
(1) Basic Information
This program began admitting students in 2005 and is one of the university's earliest engineering majors. It currently enrolls approximately 630 full-time undergraduate students.
Guided by the educational philosophy of "fostering virtue, strengthening foundations, emphasizing engineering applications, and enhancing professional competence," the program prioritizes moral education while cultivating students' practical skills and engineering capabilities in line with the objectives of New Engineering education. It aims to produce graduates with strong moral character, solid theoretical foundations, broad knowledge, excellent professional competence, comprehensive qualities, and outstanding practical abilities.
In January 2025, the program was approved as a Special Development Project for Private Higher Education Institutions by the Henan Provincial Department of Education.
Achievements
Graduates have been admitted to prestigious postgraduate institutions, including Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Zhengzhou University, Henan University, and Hainan University. Students have won numerous provincial and national awards in competitions such as the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, the National Mathematical Contest in Modeling, the Lanqiao Cup Electronic Design Competition, and the "Challenge Cup." Graduates are highly competitive in the job market and frequently secure well-paid positions in state-owned enterprises, listed companies, and other organizations related to electronic information engineering.
The program focuses on embedded systems development. Centered on the university's goal of cultivating application-oriented talents, it closely follows the development trends of electronic information engineering and the evolving needs of society and industry. Through optimizing the curriculum, innovating teaching methods, and strengthening practical education, the program has established a distinctive educational model characterized by strong disciplinary support, qualified faculty, excellent teaching facilities, a comprehensive practical training system, and a strong social reputation.
(2) Educational Objectives
The program aims to cultivate high-quality application-oriented graduates who meet the needs of industry and society in electronic product development. Students will develop comprehensively in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and practical dimensions while mastering the fundamental theories of Electronic Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering, as well as essential knowledge in electronic circuit design and information system analysis.
Graduates will possess social responsibility, innovation capability, and lifelong learning awareness, together with practical abilities in embedded systems, intelligent electronic product design and development, and modern communication engineering. They will be qualified for careers in government agencies, enterprises, software and hardware companies, semiconductor manufacturers, and related organizations, engaging in system design, development, operation, and maintenance.

6.Intelligent Science and Technology
(1) Basic Information

Guided by China's New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, the program serves the development of Henan's AI industry and the Zhengzhou National AI Innovation and Development Pilot Zone. Relying on university laboratories in AI, big data, robotics, robot simulation, and intelligent terminals, the program adopts project-based learning, competency-oriented training, and competition-based education. With intelligent control as its specialization, it implements an Excellent Engineer Training Program in Advanced Intelligent Control, emphasizing students' practical AI application abilities while cultivating innovative, application-oriented professionals.

The program prepares graduates to meet the growing demand for AI professionals in regional development. Students will master the fundamental theories of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and Control Science, together with knowledge of intelligent control, intelligent algorithms, system development, algorithm design, and programming.
Graduates will possess the ability to analyze, design, develop, and program AI systems and intelligent robots, enabling them to work in intelligent manufacturing, smart IoT, intelligent computing, intelligent finance, intelligent transportation, and related industries in areas such as intelligent control system development, AI algorithm implementation, and big data analysis.

Following the national New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, the program serves regional AI industry development and the Zhengzhou National AI Innovation Pilot Zone. (1) Educational Objectives
This program aims to cultivate technically skilled professionals with firm ideals and values, well-rounded development in morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and practical skills, sound scientific and cultural literacy, strong professional ethics, innovative spirit, craftsmanship, employability, and sustainable career development.
Students will master computer systems and information processing technologies while acquiring professional knowledge and practical skills in web design, database management, data processing, and data analysis. Graduates will be qualified for positions in software and information technology industries, engaging in web development, data analysis and management, virtual reality applications, and related fields.
